Hoping that you might want to learn more about the world of homeless people and their caregivers by

supporting a fundraising opportunity for Veterans On the Rise 501(c)3.  We are hosting a Pre-release Red Carpet Premiere for this movie, and I think it will be up your alley on Wednesday, October 18 at the AMC Loews Georgetown 14 Cinema.  We need to get 17 more donors to participate in this effort as a part of our global giving campaign.  We are also raising money for Veterans On the Rise and offering participants the opportunity to purchase tickets to the film through our Global Giving Accelerator Campaign.  Please check out the campaign

Hope that you will support us by buying a ticket, and donating to support donations efforts we offer in the form of activities for the veterans.  Please take a look at the trailer, and maybe share it with your people from the homeless feeding ministry or a few of your friends and coworkers.  Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

Cherry Blossom Running for VOTR

On Sunday, April 2, Melanie Avery, Director of Public Affairs and sometimes chief everything officer ran the Cheery Blossom 10-miler on behalf of Veterans On the Rise! Her second time running the race, it was a great day for a run in that there was mild weather and virtually no wind.  Melanie also ran this race as a precursor to May which is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Veterans On the Rise hopes you will join the organization for upcoming volunteer, physical activity, and fundraising efforts.

Watching Rebounds

Between February and April of 2017, VOTR took over thirty veteran residents and alumni to watch games from the Washington Wizards.  These games were also attended by mentors who helped veterans focus their attention on the next steps they might take to get their lives back on track from an employment and housing perspective.  Participants from the Severely Mentally Ill, Urgent and Emergent, and Transition in Place programs enjoyed the games from start to finish.  When asked about how they enjoyed the experiences many of the veterans intimated that this was their first time attending a basket ball game in years.  It was a pleasure for them to participate, and they were incredibly thankful to the Monumental Sports organization for providing these veterans who served their country proudly to enjoy the wonderful entertainment value that basketball games bring.
