Hike the Billy Goat Trail on September 30th. Join us as we explore one of Maryland’s Natural Treasures.  The hike will start at 10:30 AM (Maryland Side) and will offer rustic views, and an opportunity to connect with a few of our veterans and volunteers. This event has been postponed due to the inclement weather we experienced on 9/30.  To learn more and join us please reach out to us at info@vetsontherise.org.

We are conducting an Ice-bucket Challenge for Veterans this Summer!

We hope you will join us as we embark on an ice bucket challenge effort and shed light on the issue of ending veteran suicides.  More than 20 veterans per day are dying by suicide. We want to break the chain that has this happen.  Please check out the link to this campaign.

supporting a fundraising opportunity for Veterans On the Rise 501(c)3.  We are hosting a Pre-release Red Carpet Premiere for this movie, and I think it will be up your alley on Wednesday, October 18 at the AMC Loews Georgetown 14 Cinema.  We need to get 17 more donors to participate in this effort as a part of our global giving campaign.  We are also raising money for Veterans On the Rise and offering participants the opportunity to purchase tickets to the film through our Global Giving Accelerator Campaign.  Please check out the campaign

Cherry Blossom Running for VOTR

On Sunday, April 8, Melanie Avery, Director of Public Affairs and sometimes chief everything officer ran the Cheery Blossom 10-miler on behalf of Veterans On the Rise! Her second time running the race, it was a great day for a run in that there was mild weather and virtually no wind.  Melanie also ran this race as a precursor to May which is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Veterans On the Rise hopes you will join the organization for upcoming volunteer, physical activity, and fundraising efforts.

Airbnb and TJHSST are donating blankets and comforters to VOTR veterans.

As temperatures dropped during the winter TJHSST students gathered warm blankets and coats to share with VOTR veterans.  Community members who would like to donate additional blankets should call the main office of VOTR to schedule a blanket drop off at 202-388-4090.
